28 year industry veteran Shaygan Kheradpir has been ñamed the CEO and board chairman of Coriant, taking over from Pat DiPietrio. The former Juniper CEO is well qualified to lead the telecom company into the future.
In addition to having experience leading Juniper as its CEO, Kheradpir has years of experience working at telecom giant Verizon. At Verizon, Kheradpir was the EVP and Chief Informational Officer. He was a member of the team that helped to modernize systems technology, and helped lead efficiency and innovation initiatives. Prior to being a member of the team at Verizon, he began his career at GTE Corporation, another recognizable industry giant.
It is Shaygan Kheradpir’s experience and expertise that make him uniquely qualified to lead Coriant and bring this telecom company to the top of the industry. Coriant currently is positioned to be a vendor that is uniquely qualified to work with large customers and carriers. With Kheradpir at the help as CEO, the company will be able to build on its successful track record of handling and supplying packet-optical systems.
Coriant is positioned to compete against large companies including Inferna, Cisco, Altel-Lucent and Ciena. Coriant is focusing on recovering from a decline in revenue in the previous year, and the company believes that an experienced CEO like Kheradpir, who understands the industry and the direction that it is heading can help the company focus on customers needs and grow the company in the direction it needs to in order to become a success.
As CEO Kheradpir’s key task will be to create new sales of its equipment. In particularly he will focus on service providers’ 100G to multi-terabit coherent metro and long haul transport deployments, hyperscale data center and cloud infrastructure buildouts, and mobile backhaul upgrades for 4G and future 5G systems.
Shaygan Kheradpir is more than just a CEO with a good understanding of business. He also understands the ins and outs of the products that telecomuncations companies make and sell. His Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D.’s in Engineering from Cornell University prove that he is just as much an expert in the field as he is qualified and capable in the business world. He also has multiple patents in telecom, media, and payments.
In addition, Kheradpir has served on the Cornell Engineering Council and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology as an advisor. His knowledge and respect in the field will surely be an asset to Coriant as the look to grow and change in the future.
