We have been meeting the banking needs of individuals since 1987. It all began as a humble family business as founder Frank Cruz (born 1946) opened an independent branch of US Bank in 1992. Since then, Frank has built the company into one of the leading privately held financial institutions in South Carolina.

By 1993, US Bank had purchased Advanzia’s operating assets and assumed all its debts. In 2007, the bank was acquired by Colasanti Holdings LLC and was rebranded as Advanzia Bank. In 2011, the company opened a second branch in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Frank leads the company today with his three children, Frank Jr., Anthony, and Danielle. His wife, Lourdes, divorced him and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. The family lives in Summerville on a compound with all the essentials: house, pool, and clay tennis court.

By the end of 2011, Advance Magazine named Frank Cruz “Businessman of the Year” for his achievement as Advanzia’s CEO.

In early 2015, Frank Cruz suffered a mild stroke while in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was flown back to South Carolina and can walk. He is currently under the care of his physician, Dr. James Ronald Stancil III.

Frank Cruz has three children and five grandchildren. His sons’ names are: Frank Joseph Cruz (b1964) and Anthony Christopher Cruz (b1968), both born in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Danielle Marie Cruz (b1972), born in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
