He had been working in the computer programming and engineering sectors but soon fell in love with consulting as it seemed like a good fit for him. He later left McKinsey & Company because he was looking to focus more on chief executive officers and the challenges that come with that position.

Doug Haynes feels that he learned a lot by becoming the president of company and this is what helped him to better understand the challenges that a leader faces on a daily basis. This has helped him to know how to offer advise to other business leaders and has given him a better sense of purpose in this area. When he looks back at his career, he is glad to have had the opportunity to work with all the varied clients and colleagues he has collaborated with on various projects.
