Former CEO at Natixis John Hailer Discusses Motivation in the Workplace

Motivation is one of the essential things in job performance, yet it’s also one of those things that can be difficult to quantify. We’re going to look at what motivates people and how leaders can use their influence over others to motivate them. We’ll see how experts like John Hailer discuss motivation in the workplace and discuss how you, too, can make it work for your team. You’ll also learn all sorts of motivational tactics that you can implement into your daily life!

  1. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

John Hailer is the former CEO at Natixis. He’s a veteran in the financial services industry and has been awarded such accolades as Director of the Year and Head of Sales/Distribution of the Year. He was also listed in Financial News’ Top 50 Financial Services Executives. During his time at Natixis, John oversaw a significant amount of business in several different areas, including sales, marketing, IT, and private banking. He did this by improving client services and developing new products that would help the company to be better equipped to handle any challenge that came it’s way. Being a CEO at Natixis, he says you must make many daily decisions. You’re constantly being forced to weigh the merits of one thing versus another and to decide which way is going to be the best for your company.

  1. Being a Leader

John Hailer has had his fair share of challenges as a leader in the workforce, mainly because he isn’t necessarily French! But he doesn’t let it get to him, saying, “You need to keep your cool and respect everyone around you regardless of their background or occupation.” This is a surefire way to endear yourself (and your business) to your employees. John Hailer says that being a leader means many things, and, for him, it starts with being fair. Helping others succeed is important too. “You need to be willing to share the credit with anyone who contributes, regardless of how much they contributed or their title/rank.”
