International Law Association Member André Des Rochers
André Des Rochers is a Top Rising Star attorney and a member of the International Law Association (ILA). In addition, he has been a member of the ILA Executive Committee since 2006, serving as Secretary-General from 2010 to 2016. He was awarded an Honorary Membership of the International Law Association for outstanding service in 2016.
The successful attorney received his degree from Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he graduated with top honors in Comparative law. He received a master’s degree in European Law from Université de Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne. Mr. Des Rochers has extensive experience in comparative public and constitutional law, intellectual property and media law and international trade law.
He also served as Deputy Director of the Belgian Federal Archives (Bruxelles), responsible for restitution issues and modernizing archival procedures. He was also a Professor Assistant at Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he taught international economic law and was a member of the Journal du droit international (JDI) administrative board. Before joining the Board of ELSA, André Des Rochers lectured on Intellectual property.
This, at the University of Namur from 2000 to 2001. Mr. Des Rochers has been practicing law for over 20 years. He is a member of the Brussels Bar and has been admitted to the French Bar. André Des Rochers holds an LL. M from the University of California at Berkeley, USA, where he was a Fulbright scholar (1990-1991).
He is a well-respected legal scholar and professor with extensive experience in the legal field. He has written many articles on intellectual property law and other areas of law, including international trade, media and constitutional law. In his time with ELSA, André Des Rochers has been instrumental in developing ELSA’s vision while also focusing on transforming ELSA into an organization that meets the evolving needs of its membership.
