Wes Edens Oversees Alliance with Commission Federal de Electricidad
In the recent agreement with Commission Federal de Electricidad (CFE), New Fortress Energy (NFE) will build a floating hub (FLNG) off the Mexican coast. This deal will be officiated by a ceremony to be held on November 3, 2022, in Mexico. The ceremony will be presided over by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and CFE chief executive officer Manuel Bartlett.
This agreement will also make it possible for NFE to extend its natural gas supply to several CFE power generation facilities in Baja California Sur. Recently, Wes Edens, the NFE chairman, (who also serves as the chief executive officer) expressed his excitement for these agreements. He reckoned that this alliance with CFE would start bearing fruit by mid-2023.
This new power plant will enhance system reliability, reduce power costs, and supplement steps taken towards expanding the use of green energy resources and lower emissions in the area by nearly hundreds of thousands of carbon dioxide per year.
In July 2021, NFE, led by Wes Edens, flagged off commercial procedures of an LNG regasification facility in the port of Pichilingue, La Paz, Baja California Sur. The facility features a state-of-the-art ISO flex system owned by NFE. It will supply natural gas to facilities like CTG La Paz and CTG Baja California Sur.
These agreements, made possible by Wes Edens and other notable stakeholders, will see the Commission Federal de Electricidad collaborate in the production and marketing of a part of the LNG volumes from the new Altamira offshore FLNG hub.
