Yubo Partners With The Diana Award on Anti Bullying Campaign
Yubo, a leading global social network for kids, has partnered with the Diana Award in an educational anti-bullying campaign.
The campaign, which includes the Yubo App Academy and Playground platform, will highlight various issues young people face and the need for education on how to stand up against bullying. In addition to awareness raising, the campaign will include free resources on cyberbullying.
Across the globe today, more than half of internet users aged 16–24 are victims of cyberbullying, and 68% of these children have reported feeling depressed or left out because they were being bullied online. The Yubo spokesperson and executive producer, Duncan Williams, commented: “Cyberbullying is a real problem today, and we are working with the Diana Award to raise awareness of this issue. Young people are increasingly vulnerable on the internet as they use it as a tool for social interaction, but they also tend to get bullied online without knowing it. The Diana Award is working hard to change this by educating kids on how they can protect their online identity in the new digital world.”
The Diana Award is a charity set up by a group of mothers committed to changing the culture of cyberbullying. It has led campaigns, including Diana’s Trust Talks, a national educational program that aims to improve young people’s attitudes and behavior toward others. The campaign was created by award-winning creative agency Campaign Republic, which specializes in helping charities and social enterprises raise the profile of their programs and messages. The Diana Award is known for its unique awards, which each celebrate a person who has overcome a different kind of adversity and persevered through suffering to lead an inspiring life. This year’s winner was Sarah O’Connor, who, with her mother’s help, fought off anorexia and bulimia to become a campaigner for eating disorders awareness.
